Alua Capital Management LP is a global investment firm based in New York, NY. Founded in 2020 by Tom Purcell and Marco Tablada, Alua incorporates a deeply researched, fundamental investment approach in an effort to optimize risk-adjusted returns during and across economic cycles. Alua invests globally and predominantly, if not exclusively in public equities with a particular focus on the financial services, consumer, business services, industrials, technology, media, and telecommunication sectors.
Our investment philosophy is agnostic with respect to “growth” or “value” styles of investing. Rather, we employ a bottom-up approach to analysis, searching for individual ideas that we believe can deliver exceptional returns over the medium to long term.
Messrs. Purcell and Tablada leveraged a twenty-year professional relationship in the founding of Alua. Prior to taking in outside capital in November of 2020, they spent two-and-a-half years managing their personal capital together, along with a team of analysts in order to prove out concept and process. This process, rooted in mutual trust, looks to leverage their experience, extensive global networks, and our now expanded investment team to construct a low-to-no leverage, high conviction portfolio that can accomplish our goal of exceptional long-term compounding.
Lastly, alignment of interest with our Limited Partners plays an important role in our investment philosophy. Messrs. Purcell and Tablada each have invested the vast majority of their respective liquid net worths in Alua and internal capital is by far the largest single representation of capital at roughly one-third of total fund net asset value.
